Where To Find a Nanny

Need Help Finding a Nanny?

Dear Parents, I wrote this blog to help parents find a nanny because I know how exhausting and stressful it is to find a good nanny or babysitter. I tried to find a nanny on my own many times and always had the same results. I always found nannies who said they were experienced but in actuality had no or very little experience, or said they could do my job but later told me that they couldn't do the hours or the nanny was "sick" all the time and couldn't show up for work. It's not like i have a hard job or that im one of those helicopter moms who puts the nanny under a microscope either . My job is easy and im a pretty laid back parent. unfortunately I just wasn't looking in the right place to find qualified nannies that take their jobs seriously. I've asked friends, co-workers, neighbors, my children's teachers, (even nannies at parks) the same question over and over "Where do I find a good nanny?". I've placed ads on classified ad sites, the local newspaper, at local colleges, my church and I have received some responses. Unfortunately not enough responses from nannies that were good fits for my position. I usually ended up hiring someone because I was in a time crunch. I needed someone to take my oldest to and from school and watch the baby so I could go back to work. The reason I'm writing this blog is because I finally found a out where to find a nanny and it was easy, affordable and NOT STRESSFUL AT ALL! Here is my advice on how to find a nanny along with all the FREE TOOLS and FORMS that I used (because I've been there and I know what it feels like to be stressed out about finding a nanny).

Follow These Easy Steps To Find a Nanny or Babysitter

Follow These Easy Steps To Find a Nanny or Babysitter  1. Do a free search at www.NannyCare.com. You can sign up and place an ad for free. You can even search for nannies in your zip code for free. You get a 30 day FREE membership (can’t beat that! way better than an expensive nanny agency or placing an ad in your local paper).  2. Place a job ad detailing exactly what you need for your job. Be specific. Say what you want and don't want. This will save you time and you will only get contacted by nannies that are OK with your job. If you want housekeeping or help cooking or doing errands, say exactly that!  Also, Contact 10-20 nannies in your area and just say something like "Check out my job and let me know if your interested".  3. Have phone interviews with the top 6 candidates. 4. Invite the top 3 or 4 nannies to your home for an in-person interview. Ask them to please bring with them a resume if they have one, references, copy of their CPR/First Aid card as well as Social Security Card and Driver's license. Use all the FREE sample forms on NannyCare.com. They have sample Interview Questions, Sample Reference Checking Questions, Sample Orientation Questions, Sample Medical Release Forms, Sample Nanny Work Agreement etc.  5. Call references on any potential nannies you’d like to hire. Once you decide which nanny you’re going with, make her a conditional  job offer. Use the Sample Nanny Work Agreement (otherwise known as a “nanny contract”) to seal the deal with your nanny. 6. Use the sample Orientation Questions and sample nanny Medical Release Form in case their is an emergency.  7. Don't forget to make a copy of all the nanny’s information (Social Security Card and Driver's license, CPR/First Aid and any other certifications or things of importance). 8. Run a background check on your nanny. Make sure the nanny has a National background check that checks all criminal records as well as sex offender records in the U.S. Don't ever accept a background check that a nanny already has ( these are usually just 1 county or 1 state and she may have done something in another city/state).  9. Your nanny is HIRED!  i hope this helps you find a great nanny or babysitter like i did. I finally found a great nanny and i hope she stays with us for many years (so that i don't have to do this again!)  Best, Julie
